Town of Pine Knoll Shores issued the following announcement on Dec. 2.
I’d like to make everyone aware of some recent outstanding work by the PKS Police Department in chasing down a person who has been charged with targeting an elderly town citizen on a scam. I usually do not forward arrest reports, but this one strikes a nerve here.
As some of you will recall, following Hurricane Florence our Police were lauded by the District Attorney when we chased down a storm-recovery scammer who had targeted PKS and other county residents in storm-recovery scams. This recent case is similar. Our PD learned of an individual allegedly taking an elderly woman for a significant amount of money for work never done. This person left town, our PD put out a warrant, the police in GA detained him on these warrants, and he was extradited back here.
We don’t regularly get involved with cross-state extradition cases. However our PD takes it personal when our citizens, particularly our elderly, are victimized. As our Police leaders said yesterday, our cops want the word to get out that if you do this in PKS, we’ll find you.
