FOIA Request Sent to Currituck County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Currituck County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

We at Outer Banks Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have formally requested records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.

The request specifically seeks the pre-election test reports for election voting machines in PDF format with specific fields. These fields include the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also sought a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Currituck County Election Department and will continue to provide updates as they become available.
