FOIA Request to Carteret County Election Department Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Outer Banks Times have sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Carteret County Election Department. The request pertains specifically to the elections voting machines pre-election test report.

The report we are seeking should ideally be in PDF format and include specific fields such as the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed). This information is vital for us to ensure transparency in the election process and hold public institutions accountable.

As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us. We believe that our role in disseminating information qualifies us for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to keep our readers updated on this matter as we await a response from the Carteret County Election Department.
