Town of Pine Knoll Shores issued the following announcement on Oct. 10.
At last night’s Board of Commissioners meeting the Town accepted a bid from Waste Removal of Morehead City to take over solid waste services from GFL for trash and recycling pick-up. We hope to see improvements in service quality relative to what we experienced in the summer of 2021. There are a few things I’d like to pass on to everyone:
· This change will take effect in January 2022
· Our service schedule will not change
· For those who currently rent carts and/or dumpsters from GFL: you may continue to rent these from GFL until your agreement with them ends, meanwhile the new contractor will service them. Following this, you may rent from the new contractor. We will mail out information on this.
· For those who currently contract with GFL for extra services (this is mainly multi-family/condominium associations, with a few exceptions), you may continue to use GFL until your agreement with them ends. Following this, you may utilize the new contractor. We will mail out information on this.
Our intent is to have this change be transparent to PKS property owners. With that said, I expect a few hiccups getting this off the ground. We’ll make our best effort here.
