TOWN OF EMERALD ISLE: Flash Flood Threat Over The Weekend

Flood

Town of Emerald Isle issued the following announcement on Aug. 6.

According to the NWS Newport-Morehead City office, another round of heavy rainfall is expected Saturday, August 7, 2021, across eastern North Carolina with widespread amounts of 1-2 inches anticipated.

Pockets of 4 inches or more are possible with isolated thunderstorms. Therefore, there is a localized flash flooding threat for much of the region. In addition to flooding, a few stronger storms could produce isolated damaging wind gusts.

Due to more than eight inches of rain already received in Emerald Isle this week, the ground is saturated, and you may notice standing water. Always remember to turn around, don't drown when you see flooded streets and roadways.
