COUNTY OF CURRITUCK: Comment Sought On Proposed Water Bill Assistance Program

Bills

County of Currituck issued the following announcement on Jul. 28.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking public comment on the proposed Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) block grant plan, which outlines how federal LIHWAP block grant funds will be spent in North Carolina in the coming state fiscal year. LIHWAP provides assistance to low income households with their water and wastewater bills. States are given broad latitude under block grant funding to design and operate their own programs, under certain restrictions.

The plan may be reviewed July 29 – August 4, 2021 at the following locations:

  • Any of the 100 county departments of Social Services in North Carolina. The Currituck County Department of Social Services may be reached at 252-232-3083.
  • Online at the NCDHHS Division of Social Service website.
Any water or wastewater vendor interested in signing a vendor agreement to accept LIHWAP funds on behalf of customers, please contact Jasmyne Simmons at Jasmyne.Simmons@dhhs.nc.gov.

Written comments will be accepted in writing no later than Thursday August 5, 2021 via:

  • Any agency where the plan was displayed.
  • Mail, postmarked no later than Thursday August 5, 2021 to:
