TOWN OF MANTEO: Town Manager Update July 19

Update

Town of Manteo issued the following announcement on Jul. 19.

Did you know the Town of Manteo provides free Public Wi-Fi Service at Town-owned facilities around the town? IT Director Carl Woody recently installed Wi-Fi at the Town Common so park users or arriving vehicles can access the internet at our newest facility. Wi-Fi connections are available at multiple locations, including Cartwright Park, the Pea Island Cookhouse Museum, the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum, George Washington Creef Park, the Waterfront Gazebo and Playground, the Downtown Marina, Magnolia Pavilion, and indoors at Town Hall. For more information on this program, just go to https://www.manteonc.gov/departments/information-technology/free-public-wi-fi on the Town's website.

The next meeting of the Manteo Board of Commissioners will be held on Wednesday, July 21st, at 5:00 p.m. at Town Hall. The consent agenda includes an item regarding the use of facilities for the New World Festival of the Arts. In the "Presentations & Reports" category, department heads will present highlights of operational activities last month, with the spotlight segment featuring Town Planner Melissa Dickerson. Also, there will be an update on Town-sponsored special events, followed by the public comment period. Agenda packages and staff reports are typically published at the end of the week prior to any given Board meeting, and you can check out the current package or past documents at https://www.manteonc.gov/government/agendas-minutes-and-videos on the Town website. Please note that this link also includes minutes and videos from past meetings of the Manteo Board of Commissioners as well as the Planning and Zoning Board. We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!

Please save the date for the next session of the Downtown Associate Community (DAC) program, which is the pathway for small towns like ours to enter the highly-regarded Main Street America program. Representatives from the North Carolina Department of Commerce will be presenting new material at the meeting to be held on Wednesday, July 28th, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall. This meeting is another step in advance of our community visioning session to be held this fall. Please visit https://www.manteonc.gov/departments/community-and-economic-development/downtown-associate-community-program for more information on this program designed to balance economic development and historic preservation.
