Remembering Space Shuttle Challenger | COUNTY OF CARTERET: (carteretcountync.gov)
County of Carteret issued the following announcement on Jan. 30.
Today we remember Beaufort native, Capt. Michael John Smith U.S. Navy, and the six other astronauts who were killed 37 years ago when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded just 73 seconds after take off.
