County of Hyde issued the following announcement on Jan. 16.
Overnight Thursday, Jan. 12, the Fairfield Church of Christ Parsonage caught fire. The pastor, Mr. Jim Turner, his wife Tammy, his sister Sharon, and their 2 cats got out safe and sound but unfortunately suffered a total loss of belongings. Hyde County DSS is accepting donations (clothing, shoes, or any household items) to help him and his family during this difficult time. Any donations can be brought to the Social Services office at 35015 US-264 Engelhard, NC 27824.
Sizes are as follows:
Ladies: pants size 14 and 16-18, shirts size large, 1z-2x, shoe size 8 1/2
Men's: pants size 38x30, shirt/t-shirt size XL, shoe size 10.
