Town of Pine Knoll Shores issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.
Flotilla Time is just around the corner on Saturday, November 27 at 4:30 pm.
Flotilla Time is here again in PKS and let’s hope for good weather this year. We will be using a 48-hour advance weather forecast to determine a go-no go.
This year, there will be a viewing area at McNeill Park and of course along the canal and our two bridges. Decorating your boat is fun so make it a family event or invite your neighbors to help. In order to power your lights, you will need a DC to AC inverter, which you can get at West Marine or Harbor Freight. Prices vary based on how much wattage they produce. Most new lights sold now are all LED and they use much less power than incandescent ones.
The date is 27 November and sundown is scheduled for around 4:57 pm that day so we will line up and assemble starting at 4:30 pm at Brock Basin Marina, travel out into the Sound and then enter the channel to pass by the spectators at McNeill Park. We for sure want to get underway by 5:30 pm at the latest. Per tide tables, we will also be in a falling tide at that time as well. High Tide is set for approximately 3 pm that day.
If you have a marine VHF radio, please set your onboard unit to channel 72 or 76, depending on traffic, so that we can communicate with McNeill Park folks and for the rest of us. We have had as many as 19 boats in the past so let’s make it happen again to celebrate our fun family time in PKS. The Lead boat call sign is Flotilla Actual and our boat name is Dulcinea. McNeill Park HQ call sign is Flotilla Base.
Please contact John Clarke at 252-269-1802 or by email at jclarke52@gmail.com or simply register your boat via this link:

If we have your name, boat name, and names on board, our Emcee will announce your boat and members of your party as you pass. No rain date is scheduled at present, but stay tuned to Facebook or email. Hopefully, a visit by Santa will happen this year too!
