February 2023 Carteret County Employee Of The Month | COUNTY OF CARTERET: (carteretcountync.gov)
County of Carteret issued the following announcement on Feb. 20.
Matthew works for our Information Technology Department as the Network Manager and provides the most effective, up-to-date Network and cyber security for our County.
Matthew continuously thinks outside of the box to find innovative ways to solve technical and business practice problems saving the County time and financial commitment.
One example of this is when he implemented a way to encrypt traffic between our public safety locations using existing equipment and resources saving the County $56,000 annually.
His technical skills and drive to learn are complemented well by his passion to continue improving himself and the County. He has a published article in Cyber Defense Magazine, has completed his B.S. degree since being with the County, and just earned his CGCIO (Certified Government Chief Information Officer) national certification in 2022.
Matthew goes out of his way to provide excellent service to staff and citizens.
His team's institutional and technical knowledge exponentially grow each year as he empowers them to take on projects and learn from successes and failures. Carteret County is thankful for his service and hard work he has dedicated to our County.
