Town of Pine Knoll Shores issued the following announcement on Dec. 20.

The annual offsite planning meeting for the Board of Commissioners will occur on 9-10 February 2023. Keep an eye out for an email on the location. The public is invited. 

Attending this is the best way to get in the know regarding the focus of the Board in the coming year. We'll discuss things such as our recycling effort (we had a bad summer in 2022 re: plastic bag contamination and may consider some adjustments), staff succession planning (one, and possibly 2, key staff members will depart in the first half of 2024), and the Town's fee schedule (everything from water system fees to fees associated with building and renovating homes).

This is also the kick-off of our budget planning for the fiscal year starting on 1 July 2023, so we'll introduce a draft capital improvement plan and publish the schedule for all of the upcoming budget meetings that will occur from March-June 2023.

There will be a regular Board of Commissioners meeting on 11 January 2023, and the public is invited to provide a public comment at this meeting to give us input on issues to be discussed in February. You do not have to attend the 11 Jan meeting to submit a topic for the February planning meeting: you may email Town Clerk/Planning Administrator Charlie Rocci at clerk@townofpks.com with subjects/topics.
