County of Currituck issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.
On Saturday Currituck County Emergency Management, 9-1-1 Communications and North Carolina Forestry Service hosted the Albemarle District Scouts BSA Camporee at the Public Safety Center. Over 90 Scouts toured the facility and saw a demo on texting to 9-1-1 along with presentations from each agency.
Did you know that if you cannot call 9-1-1, you can text 9-1-1?
If you have an emergency and you cannot call 9-1-1, text to 9-1-1 and be sure to include your name, where you’re at, and describe your emergency in simple words (with no abbreviations).
If you need assistance that is NOT an emergency, please call the Communications non-emergency number at 252-453-3633. The telecommunicators answer the phones 24/7.
Please visit currituckcountync.gov/communications for more information or contact Currituck County Emergency Management at emstaff@currituckcountync.gov or 252-232-2115.
Remember…Call 9-1-1 if you can, Text 9-1-1 if you can’t.
