TOWN OF CEDAR POINT: October 31, 2022 Trick or Treat 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Town of Cedar Point issued the following announcement on Sept. 26.

The Town of Cedar Point is currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Administrative Assistant.  This position is offered as Full Time or Part Time.  Part Time salary is commensurate on experience, Full Time starting salary range is $26,000-$29,000.  Candidates must agree to a drug screen and background check.  Please submit cover letter, resume and Town of Cedar Point Employment Application to Jayne Calhoun via email at jcalhoun@cedarpointnc.org OR via US Mail: Jayne Calhoun, Town Clerk, Town of Cedar Point, 427 Sherwood Avenue, Cedar Point, NC 28584.  

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

General Statement of Duties

Performs professional, clerical, and administrative work and is the first point of contact for citizen’s inquiries at the Town Hall’s front desk.  Prospective candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain a North Carolina Notary Public within 180 days of hire.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Main point of contact for greeting citizens and responding to queries and requests.
  • Answers questions and directs requests to appropriate departments.
  • Handles various incoming municipal applications.
  • Performs skilled clerical and administrative work.
  • Maintains departmental records, forms, reports, logs, and files.
  • Presents a welcome environment by keeping Town Hall neat and clean.
  • Receives, screens, reviews correspondence; writes letters and reports for supervisor review.
  • Responds to citizen’s email requests.
  • Collects fees and follow approved cash-handling procedures; prepares daily deposits; conducts basic bookkeeping tasks.
  • Performs related duties as required
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, standing, talking, typing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift objects.
  • Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze documents, operate a computer terminal, and do occasional reading.
