Town of Pine Knoll Shores issued the following announcement on Mar. 23.
Building or renovating property in PKS is a challenge, given our effort to respect property owners rights while at the same time protecting the look and feel of the Town .
Our ordinances do not make this any easier following 49 years of changes and re-writes on everything from storm water control to impervious surfaces to setbacks, and of course trees.
The Planning Board has just started an effort to address this challenge by putting all development information in one section of the Code. This consolidation of development-related regulation will eventually create a unified development ordinance (UDO).
Tomorrow at 3PM, and on the 4th Tuesday of each month from now through the fall, the Planning Board will meet in Town Hall to create the UDO.
If you are interested in attending you are welcome to do so. All Planning Board meetings are open to the public, and include public comment.
**If you are interested I strongly suggest you contact PKS Town Planner Kevin Reed to get a better understanding of how the creation of the UDO will unfold. He is at kreed@townofpks.com, and at 252-247-4353
