Town of Cape Carteret issued the following announcement on Mar. 25.
WCWC has water quality vehicles that travel throughout our service area five days a week taking samples from our many sampling stations. We do not EVER randomly gather an interior sample from a home or business. If you have a water quality concern and contact our office, our Lab Manager may visit you, but that will be after you initiate the call and only by appointment.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with purchasing additional home or business water purification equipment. There is a problem, however, if it is purchased due to scare tactics about the safety of the water. If you are visited, please begin the conversation by identifying the company they represent, the name of the person visiting, and the purpose of the visit. There should be a clear line of communication whereby you realize in the beginning that you are speaking with someone that is not representing your water utility, but is selling a product. If you then choose to continue, that is an informed decision.
WCWC's Board and Staff recognizes our responsibility to our member-users and we take that very seriously.
If you ever have concerns regarding this issue or any others, please feel free to report those to our office at lisa.smithperri@wcwc.biz or by calling 252-393-1515.
