Currituck County Parks and Recreation to offer different youth sports this fall

Currituck County Parks and Recreation canceled its youth sports offerings of tackle football, volleyball and soccer for the upcoming fall season due to COVID-19, officials said in August.

“A new list of options if being offered to provide local children with healthy activities, athletic competition, and social interaction in ways that limit the participants’ risk of exposure to the COVID-19 coronavirus,” parks and recreation officials said in a news release on Aug. 17

Fall baseball, softball, T-ball will be available for ages 5 to 16 with registration open now through Monday, Sept. 7, according to the release. Flag football, involving pass only and cheerleading will be available for those aged 7 to 18 with registration open from Monday, Sept. 14 to Monday, Oct. 12. Baseball, softball, T-ball will start practices in mid-September and games in early October while flag football and cheerleading will begin holding practices in late October and games in early November.

A soccer skills camp for ages 5 to 12 will also be provided at Currituck Community Park during September and October.
