The Carteret County Chamber of Commerce is urging community members to remain vigilant in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus to help more parts of the economy locally and statewide reopen under the governor's Phase 3 plan.
Gov. Roy Cooper delayed the Phase 3 reopening for at least three weeks as of June 29, in response to coronavirus cases climbing.
"It is understandably disappointing that we couldn’t move into Phase 3 of reopening the state and that we’re still in Phase 2 for three more weeks," the chamber's leadership said in a letter posted to the Carteret County Chamber website on June 29.
The chamber advised community members that the best ways to prevent the spread of the coronavirus include practicing social distancing, washing hands or using hand sanitizer, and wearing a face mask which is now mandatory.
"But now, more than ever, it’s important to try to slow down the spread of the Covid-19 virus," the chamber's leadership wrote in the letter.
