Carteret County issued the following announcement on May 26.
On May 26, 2020, Carteret County received an additional confirmed positive case for a total of 37 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the County. Of the 37 confirmed cases, 1 patient is an active case, 33 of those patients have recovered and have satisfied the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) isolation requirements, and 3 are deceased. Carteret County medical providers, including the Health Department, have collected specimens for COVID-19 testing for 858 patients resulting in 37 positive confirmations, 1 inconclusive, 808 negative results and 12 pending test results. Residents should contact their healthcare provider or the Health Department to see if they meet testing criteria for COVID-19 even if they are not symptomatic.
