Carteret County issued the following announcement on May 13.
As of May 13, 2020, Carteret County has not received any new COVID-19 confirmed cases and remains at 35 confirmed cases for the County. Of the 35 confirmed cases, 8 patients are active cases, 24 of those patients have recovered and have satisfied the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) isolation requirements, and 3 are deceased. Carteret County medical providers, including the Health Department, have collected specimens for COVID-19 testing for 735 patients resulting in 35 positive confirmations, 1 inconclusive, 676 negative results and 23 pending test results.
Residents who are experiencing symptoms compatible with COVID-19 such as fever and cough should immediately self-isolate and contact their healthcare provider to determine if they need to be tested.
