Carteret County has reopened its beaches for residents only.

The Carteret County Department of Human Services announced last month the reopening all of its maintained beach access points. The beach access points are at Salter Path, Radio Island and Harkers Island.

Residents are advised to continue to practice social distancing and avoid mass gatherings to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

At the end of April, it was announced that Currituck County would reopen the town of Corolla to non-resident property owners.

In Hyde County, a stay-at-home order has been extended to Friday, May 22.

Currituck and Dare counties are working together to coordinate entry for visitors to the Outer Banks. The board chairmen and county managers from both counties have met to begin discussions.

The statewide stay-at-home order was revised on May 5.
