DARE COUNTY: COVID-19 Bulletin #28

Cdc coronavirus 1000

Dare County issued the following announcement on Apr. 4.

In North Carolina, there are currently 2,289 cases of COVID-19 in 88 counties. There have been 22 fatalities in NC associated with COVID-19. Currently, the state is reporting 259 hospitalizations across the state from COVID-19 illness.

In Dare County, three positive tests have been reported. Two of the three individuals have completely recovered from their illness and the third person remains in isolation and is improving daily. The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services will continue to report on any positive test results as soon as possible.

During emergencies or other trying situations, there are times when misleading or untrue information is shared, especially through the internet and social media. When making decisions to protect you and your family from COVID-19, be sure to rely on credible sources for updated information. For trusted, reliable information, visit the CDC website at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus or NCDHHS at www.ncdhhs.gov/coronavirus. For information specific to Dare County, visit www.darenc.com/covid19.

Currently, there are no Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs specifically for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19. Researchers are studying new drugs, and drugs that are already approved for other health conditions, as possible treatments for COVID-19. Research is also underway to test for antibodies in individuals who tested positive for COVID -19 and have recovered.

Beware of people selling cure-all vaccines, drugs, or any other products. Consult with a doctor or health professional before you buy or use any products in an effort to prevent or treat COVID-19. Remember - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Given the uncertainty of who may be carrying the virus and the understanding that this virus is highly contagious, we must continue to be vigilant and follow guidelines for practicing social distancing, having direct contact with immediate family members ONLY and good hygiene. These three things are the only weapons we have right now to fight this virus. Currently, there are no vaccinations nor medicines to prevent or cure COVID-19.
