The Morehead City Council announced on May 8 that it will hold two public meetings regarding the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2026-27. A budget workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12 at 2 p.m., followed by the regular City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. Both events will take place in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 1100 Bridges Street.

The agenda for these meetings, including details about the newly released proposed budget, is available on the city’s website Agenda Center. The council said this version of the budget is current as of May 8 and may be updated before final approval.

Meeting rebroadcasts will be made available later in the week to ensure public access to discussions and decisions made during these sessions. The council also outlined a schedule for additional workshops and a public hearing related to the budget process.

There are three total budget workshops planned in addition to a public hearing at the regular June council meeting. The workshops are set for May 12, May 19, and June 2. The regular City Council meeting with a public hearing on the proposed budget will take place on June 9.

These sessions provide opportunities for residents to learn more about city finances and offer feedback before final adoption of next year’s fiscal plan.
