FOIA Request to Hyde County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

We at Outer Banks Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have submitted a request for public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. The request was sent in electronic format and seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The specific details requested include the first, middle, and last names of the candidates, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and party affiliation of each candidate. Additionally, we have asked for all contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also mentioned our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information to the public.

We await response from the Hyde County Election Department and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
