County of Dare issued the following announcement on Jan. 30.

NCDOT is in the process of making improvements to the NC12 – Bodie Island Lighthouse – Coquina Beach intersection!

We’re adding a new northbound right turn lane to the beach & lengthening the existing turn lanes to both the lighthouse and the beach.

We’ll be paving the intersection tomorrow (Saturday), which means there will be some brief lane closures and unmarked pavement in the area.

Please slow down and drive carefully as we make changes that will make this intersection much safer!
