The Morehead City Police Department announced on April 16 that Olivia Nicole Kimbro, who was the subject of a North Carolina Amber Alert, has been located and is safe. Authorities said she is currently in police custody.

The cancellation of the Amber Alert brings relief to the community after concerns were raised about the safety of Kimbro, a 13-year-old girl reported missing. The alert had prompted widespread efforts to locate her and encouraged public assistance.

According to police updates, Kimbro was believed to be with an unidentified male described as a Black man, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a black tank top, black shoes, and a black durag. The pair were thought to be traveling in a white Chevy Equinox from model years between 2005 and 2009.

Police said that as of early April 17 the male subject involved in the case had been identified and that their investigation remains ongoing. They asked anyone with information about this case to contact the Morehead City Police Department or call emergency services.

No further details have been released at this time regarding circumstances surrounding Kimbro’s disappearance or recovery. Authorities thanked everyone who assisted in locating her.
